Any insights into how your Institute could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

To make our institute more welcoming to students of different races and economic backgrounds, we can take several steps. Firstly, we can actively promote diversity and inclusion by creating a multicultural environment that celebrates and respects different races and backgrounds. Secondly, offering scholarships, grants, and financial aid programs can make education more accessible to students from diverse economic backgrounds. Additionally, organising cultural events, providing support services like mentorship programs and counselling, and fostering collaborations with organisations focused on diversity and inclusivity can create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Regularly evaluating and updating our policies and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all students is also crucial in creating a welcoming institute for students of different races and economic backgrounds.

What do you think should be the college's top priority over the next 10 years?

I believe that over the next 10 years, the college’s top priority should be to establish itself as a pioneer and global leader in sustainable fashion and interior design education. We need to focus on academic excellence, staying at the forefront of industry trends, and fostering innovation in our programs and curriculum. By doing so, we can provide our students with the knowledge and skills needed to address the pressing sustainability challenges of our time.

Another crucial aspect is building strong partnerships and collaborations with industry leaders and organisations. This will enable us to offer valuable internships, guest lectures, and industry projects, ensuring that our students gain practical experience and stay connected to the evolving industry practices.
In addition, we should prioritise sustainable infrastructure and practices within the college itself. By adopting eco-friendly measures, reducing our carbon footprint, and promoting sustainable design principles, we can create an environment that aligns with our educational mission and serves as a model for the industry.

Overall, our goal should be to produce graduates who are not only skilled professionals but also conscious global citizens who can drive positive change in the fashion and interior design sectors.
